Less is More #359 - Birds / Feathers

Hi there,

A very short and sweet post from me today as I am still chasing my tail in the run-up to Christmas. Our theme at Less is More this week is Birds / Feathers.

My card is a simple stamp it and water colour it card featuring the bird crazy stamp set. At first I only had the bird on the card but I thought he was obviously looking wistfully at something, so as my Santa sleigh stamps were all a little too large I decided to add a simple star. I wonder if his Christmas wish will come true?

I'm entering this into:
4 Crafty Chicks #381 - Christmas /Winter Critters
CAS on Friday #123 - Christmas
CRAFT Challenge  14 December - Christmas
Paperminutes #516 - Christmas Caps
The Merry Christmas Challenge #47 - Anything Goes + Christmas
The Sisterhood of Crafters - All About Christmas
Watercooler Wednesdays WWC149 - Occasions

You can see the fantastic card that our guest designer Michelle Wallace (our October winner) has made for us by clicking on her name, and if you pop over to the challenge blog  as well, all the awesome cards from the design team are there.
That's it from me for now. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Dare to be Different

Hi!  I have a really fun and funky card for you today made with some fabulous  Visible Image stamps.

I absolutely <3 LOVE <3 these funky lips!

I can actually picture my youngest daughter wearing these colours at one of the multitude of festivals she attends each year. Mind you, she'd probably bling it up with glitter or gloss too ;-) That'd be sure to make an impression eh? They are brilliant!

How to make this card:

1) Pounce distress stains onto wet watercolour paper (squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, peeled paint, mowed lawn) and spritz with water whilst drying to make a few droplets.
2) When dry use peeled paint distress ink and brush through the fibres stencil.
3) Randomly stamp the 'X' and 'O' from the stamp set over the background in mowed lawn and forest moss distress inks. Cut a panel of the watercoloured background down to size for your card blank.

4) On spare card stamp 3 images of the lips, one in mustard seed, one in mowed lawn and one in peeled paint distress ink. Fussy cut the lips then gently blend the matching distress ink around the edges of each lips to blend out any white edges.
5) Stamp the sentiment onto the front of the  card blank in the bottom right corner in peeled paint.
6) On the inside of the card, stamp the lips in bundled sage distress ink. Then stamp over the lips with the sentiment in peeled paint.

7) Adhere the panel to the card front. Add the lips in varying heights of 3d foam pads. Add 3 gold gems to the panel and 2 gold gems either side of the sentiment.

Less is More #357 - Red and Green

Hello my friends. Well...December! Wow! The big day is almost here and we have the perfect colour challenge to get some of those last minute Christmas cards finished.

https://simplylessismoore.blogspot.pt/

And as it is a new month we have a new sponsor

https://shop.happylittlestampers.com/

and once again the lovely Kylie is joining us as our guest designer with a fantastic card. Head over to our challenge blog for a link to Kylie's blog to leave her some love.

I had the privilege of meeting Kylie at the Happy Little Stampers retreat in Manchester last month and she is the most amazing lady, heading all the way to the UK from Australia to spend her time and talents with us. So as a little thank you from me, I made a card with some of her stamps this week.

I actually have only 2 cards for you today because in the run-up to Christmas things tend to get a bit manic, don't they?

1) Doodled Flowers

Here I've used a non-Christmas image to make a Christmas card. The Doodled flowers, I figured they'd do as a poinsettia substitute,  and leaves were stamped and coloured with colouring pencils (love how it makes the flat image look molded), cut out on my scanncut and adhered with foam pads. The sentiment was heat embossed directly onto the card stock and 3 sequins to finish. A nice, easy and relaxing card to do.

I'd like to enter this into:
Make My Monday #60 - Happy Christmas / Happy Holidays
The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #20 - Anything Christmas Goes
The Merry Christmas Challenge  #45 - Anythign Goes + Christmas

STAMPS: Happy Little Stampers Doodled Flowers & Everyday Sentiments
INKS: Adirondack bottle, Memento onyx black
OTHER: Colouring pencils, pearl and white card, sequins, clear embossing powder

2) Holly Border

Here's one where the red shows up a lot better. I stamped the holly border onto white card with Adirondack bottle ink and then glittered the leaves and berries with green and red stickles. Once dry I actually fussy cut around one side (shock!). The sentiment was stamped and then the panel was adhered to a red card base. Another really simple design.

This card is for:
AAA Cards #104 - Christmas
Fab n Funky Challenges #373 - Christmas
Watercooler Wednesdays WWC147 - Anything Goes

STAMPS: Woodware Traditional Christmas
INKS: Adirondak bottle
OTHER: Distress stickles barn door, Stickles green, white and red card.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please head on over to the challenge blog for some fantastic red and green inspiration from the design team.

Less is More #356 - Let it shine!

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well. Unfortunately I ended up in hospital this week (don't worry, I'm fine!) so the video that I've made of making this light up card has not been edited yet. I'll get round to it as soon as I can. Promise!

So, as you may have guessed from the header, this week at Less is More our recipe is to:

The challenge is about using anything that shines, shimmers, sparkles or glistens so there are loads of products you can  use.

Ha ha! You can tell by the fab inspiration on the challenge blog which ones of the design team were taught how to make light up cards at our recent Happy Little Stampers craft retreat. Well, you have to put new skills into practice, don't you? You can see the lovely Kylie's video of how to make the circuits for these cards by clicking HERE

I have 3 Christmas cards for you today.

1) Light-up Card

What better way to 'Let it Shine' than by making a light up card?  These cards are fun to make but the lights themselves can be a little expensive. Even though I took these photos in bright daylight, the lights still show up fantastically well in the smaller photo.

This is my representation of the Christmas sky that Santa flies across.

I'm entering this card into the following 4 challenges:
As You Like it challenge: Your favourite Christmas colour and why. Well, mine is this combination of bluey greens and purples because I ALWAYS end up making my cards with those colours even though I promise myself I'll do something different! HERE'S A LINK to last year's main card design to prove it!
Cute Card Thursday #505 - Stars! (well, I think the lights are cute!)
Southern Girls Challenge (17 Nov) - Let's get inky
The Holly and the Ivy Christmas Challenge #19 - Anything Goes

As I said - a full video of me making this card will be available shortly, so if you subscribe to my YouTube channel you will get an alert when it is ready, but in the meantime Kylie shows you how to make the circuits HERE

STAMPS: Visible Image Universal and sentiment from Visible Image Shining Bright
INKS: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Stains: Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves, Peacock Feathers
OTHER: White Card, Lithium Battery, Copper Conductive adhesive tape, Chibitronics lights, Foam Pads and tape, Pricking tool, Pencil (for drawing the circuit).

2) Joy to the World

Next up is a glittery stencilled card.

I'm adding this to:

Atlantic Hearts - Sketch 239 - I turned it upside down

Crafting by designs November - Get ready for Christmas
Starz Stamps challenge - Add some sparkle

I took a stencil and blended distress ink through it. Before removing the stencil I pressed a Versamark clear embossing ink pad through it, then removed the stencil and added the embossing glitter and heat embossed. A strip was adhered to a panel and some score lines added each side of it. Then a simple sentiment, a die cut and some gems finished the design.

STAMPS: PaperTrey Inc
DIES: Wild Rose Studios poinsettia corner
INKS: Distress Inks, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar. Memento London Fog, VersaMark clear embossing ink
OTHER: ClarityStamps stencil, Wow! Cha Cha Cha embossing glitter. Pearlescent Card, White card, Foam tape. Gems

3) Sparkling Non-Traditional Christmas

Here's another non traditional coloured Christmas card. This has one of my favourite techniques, the bokeh effect, which reminds me of the shine from coloured Xmas tree lights when you squint at them. The other shine on this card comes from the sparkly embossing powder.

This one is for:
Craft Rocket challenge #43: Christmas is coming!
The Merry Christmas Challenge #44 - Anything Goes plus Christmas
Watercooler Wednesdays #146 - All about Christmas

STAMPS: Happy Little Stampers Mix Mash and Everyday Sentiments sets
INKS: Versamark clear. VersaColor white ultimate pigment ink. Distress inks: abandoned coral, picked raspberry, spun sugar, mustard seed, squeezed lemonade
OTHER: Papermania tinsel gold embossing powder, raspberry, yellow and white card, bling bling gems.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Okay, that's it from me - I'm off for a lie down now (doctors orders to rest up). I hope you like these cards and that they inspire you to enter the challenge this week.
Hope to see you again soon.

Hugs,
Sharon xx

Sister Tag

Hi there. I'm popping on here today to share a fun tag that I made with my Visible Image stamps.

I don't usually make tags but when I do, I completely cover the tag with layers of ink. I love all the rich, warm colours on this one.

Here's how to make it.

Stamp the profile image and words (links to the stamps are below) with clear Versamark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder.

TIP: Be sure to choose the smoother side of the water colour paper for stamping. If you choose the bumpy side it is difficult to get a full image.

Wet the watercolour card and pounce distress stains randomly on the card. Whilst drying spritz with some water droplets. Using the Cosmic Skies stencil, brush through it with carved pumpkin (on the yellow parts) and candied apple (on the orange parts) around the face image.

Next brush through the Fibres stencil with rusty hinge distress ink. Then randomly add parts of the Sister Definition words inked up in rusty hinge distress ink, and random bits of the splodgy parts of the face image in candied apple distress ink.

Cut the embossed part of the inked watercolour card into a tag shape and blend vintage photo distress ink around the edges. Add co-coordinating coloured ribbons and 3 co-ordinating heart charms.

On the leftover pieces of inked watercolour card, draw round some stars from the Stars and Stripes stencil and fussy cut them. Add the cut out stars to the tag using varying heights of 3d foam pads. The final touch is to dot gold stickles around the areas of stars.

Less is More #355 - Case Susan's Card

Hello there. Gosh, that 2 weeks has just flown by and I've been enjoying myself in the UK. In fact, I only fly back home this evening. So as I've been away I only have the one card for you today.

The theme at Less is More challenge is a fun one because it is Susan's birthday today so we are casing a card that she made.
,
Happy Birthday Susan!

And here is the card Susan made for us to CASE

And this is my CASE. Yes, she comes out every Christmas and this year is no exception! I adore this Lili of the Valley image and as soon as I saw Susan's card I knew I had to use her and team her up with that Clearly Besotted sentiment stamp. It's like they were made for each other!

STAMPS: Lili of the Valley - It's my party (I have the old rubber version), Clearly Besotted - Laugh out loud
INKS: Memento Tuxedo Black, Adirondak Red Pepper
OTHER: Distress markers (colours are too numerous to mention), Stardust Stickles, 3d foam pads, tiny star confetti, white card.

I’m entering this into:
Addicted to Stamps & More! #268 - Holiday
The Merry Christmas Challenge #43 - Anything goes + Christmas
The Holly And the Ivy Challenge #19 - Anything Christmas Goes
Craft Rocket Challenge #43 - Christmas is coming

There's some wonderful inspiration over at the challenge blog from the design team. And if you visit them they may even have a bonus card or two on their personal blogs.

That's it from me for now. I hope you found something you like and I really hope to see you again soon.

Hugs,
Sharon
